The Heinz Institute of Nutritional Sciences

The Heinz Institute of Nutritional Sciences Inc. (HINS) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance the knowledge and practice of nutrition with the goal of ensuring the nutritional well-being of emerging generations.  Fulfillment of the HINS mission is carried out through the following initiatives:

Cooperation with food and nutrition scientists, public agencies, and professional bodies to evaluate scientific data, and to find solutions to food and nutrition problems.

Initiating and supporting applied scientific research.

Facilitating the dissemination of quality nutrition information to health professionals and to the public.

HINS utilizes a network of nutritional experts from academia, the medical profession, government and the food industry. HINS is supported by committees of medical doctors, public health professionals, nutritionists and food scientists in a number of countries. Cancer Research Foundation of America (CRFA)

The Cancer Research Foundation of America is a national nonprofit health organization whose mission is the prevention of cancer through scientific research and education. Founded in 1985 by Carolyn Aldige, the organization’s commitment is fueled by the fact that certain cancers are preventable through lifestyle and health policy changes, yet more than 550,000 Americans die from the disease annually. Since its inception, the Foundation has focused its energies and resources on cancer prevention by providing support to research, education and early detection programs in excess of $36.1 million. The goal: to reduce both cancer death and incidence. The Cancer Research Foundation of America maintains that as much as 70 percent of certain cancers may be preventable.

Laboratory for Public Health Informatics and Communications Research

The Laboratory for Public Health Informatics and Communications Research is committed to the research of current and emerging technologies and the application of these technologies toward the improvement of health. The Lab is dedicated to the development of technologies and information that appropriately disseminate public health messages to health professionals, patients, and the general public in efficient and cost effective ways. Doing so improves the timeliness of health information delivery while enhancing the public’s access to that information. Efficiency and accessibility further enable meaningful integration of research into health care practice and individual health behavior.
